A Logan man has been remembered by family and friends as someone with a “heart of gold” after he was killed in a horrific motorbike crash south of Brisbane.

Vincent George Wiremu Hutan was driving on Bumstead Rd, Crestmead when his motorcycle and another vehicle collided around 4pm near the intersection of Geaney Boulevard.

Mr Hutana sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

The family have started a GoFundMe page to help them take the 34-year-old Crestmead resident home to New Zealand.

“Our cuz has (had) just gotten over his fears of being on bikes,” his cousin, Rangimaria Symons posted on the page.

“He was an honest hard working man who loved his family.

“A heart of gold that was so tender and sweet.

“(He) Loved his mama and his brother, also his most treasured nephew who just recently turned one.”

Another one of Mr Hutana’s cousins, Shulay Harrison-Mason, said he would be dearly missed.

“(He had the) kindest soul, biggest heart and was the best uncle, cousin we could ever ask for even too all our babies,” he said.

“He wasn’t a dad but he was so awesome to our children.

Ms Symons said what was supposed to be a time of joy around the Christmas holiday season has now turned solemn.

“They (were) packing up as a whanau and coming home (to New Zealand) next year after 15 years in Australia,” she said.

“Our 35-year-old Vinnie had other plans.

“Now we as a whanau (family) are meant to be celebrating happy times, buying gifts, having big hakari (feast) for Xmas but are now putting as much putea (money) together to bring him home to lay with his dad.”

Almost $2500 of the $15,000 goal has already been raised on GoFundMe page.

The driver of the vehicle was physically uninjured.

The Forensic Crash Unit are investigating the crash.
