A family’s home on Brisbane’s southside has been torn apart after a fire tore through their property with neighbours saying they heard children crying for help.

The fire broke out at the single-storey property on Heathwhite St at Tarragindi around 5am.

“The flames were really big.

“It’s the first time in my life seeing a house fire.

“I was so scared.”

Another neighbour said her, her partner and their two children were woken up by the family yelling for help.

“I called triple-0,” she said.

“It was a bit frightening running outside and seeing the fire.”
