Beaudesert man George William Currie, 61, appeared in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday charged with acts intended to maim/disfigure/disable.

The court heard police were called to a disturbance where a man had been stabbed at a residence at Brisbane St, Beaudesert, about 6.40am on June 20, 2020.

During cross-examination in court, a police officer among the first on the scene said they found the injured victim lying on the patio being attended to by two other people.

The officer’s body-worn camera captured the moment his partner then went to look inside the house and said, “There’s lots of blood in here.”

The court heard police searched the home and found Mr Currie inside, sitting at a table in the kitchen with a bottle of whiskey and blood on him.

Mr Currie was taken into custody and has since been charged with stabbing the man.

Magistrate Ron Kilner committed the matters for trial in the Supreme Court for a later date.
