‘F**k ya!’: Browns Plains cop assaulter has explosive outburst in court

A 21-year-old man from Browns Plains charged with seriously assaulting and obstructing police yelled out “f**k ya” at a judge during an explosive outburst in court.

A 21-year-old man from Browns Plains charged with seriously assaulting and obstructing police yelled out “f**k ya” at a judge during an explosive outburst in court today.

Aaron Lee Graham pleaded guilty to 10 charges including one count of seriously assaulting police and two of seriously obstructing police in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday.

The court heard police arrested the 21-year-old following reports he had been armed with a knife during a fight with another man in December.

Police prosecutor Jeanette Mitchell said Graham had been noticeably under the influence of a substance and became aggressive when police arrived at the scene to take him into custody.

She said he struck one of the officers in the jaw while he was wearing metal handcuffs, leaving the cop with a torn cheek muscle which he took a month off work for.

“Injuries to the other officers included abrasions to forearms and hands as well as bruising and discomfort,” she said.

The court heard Graham had a history of similar serious violent offending on police and had been on parole at the time of the offending.

He was sentenced to nine months imprisonment, six months of which will be served as part of a suspended sentence.

The 21-year-old erupted into a shock outburst after the judge handed out his sentence and kicked the wall while sitting inside the docks.

“I’ve barely seen my mum since I was 16 … I’ve only just started a relationship with her again last week and you’re sending me to jail?” he yelled.

“Take me away from my sick mother? Sweet. F**k ya!”
