A Logan musician who prosecutors allege kidnapped and bashed the wrong man in an act of revenge over a drug debt, has told the court he still wants to play gigs in his bid for a bail variation.
Ezekiel Christopher Dodd, 27, faced Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Thursday, November 30 as he applied to have his bail varied.
The Logan Central man was charged with deprivation of liberty, robbery with violence armed in company and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
The alleged offences occurred on September 4 in Logan Central and police will allege Mr Dodd kidnapped and bashed a man over a drug debt.
He has not entered any pleas.
Police will allege Mr Dodd mistakenly attacked the wrong man in a bizarre case of mistaken identity.
He was also charged with enter dwelling for an alleged offence in Highland Park, Gold Coast on September 4.
Mr Dodd faced two charges of possession of dangerous drugs which allegedly took place on September 15 in Logan Central.
Defence lawyer Michael O’Brien said his client needed his bail curfew varied for his work.
“He is a working musician and needs his conditions varied so he can perform at night,” he said.
“Mr Dodd is currently on a curfew from 7am to 7pm which impedes his ability to work as a musician so we are seeking to change the curfew to midnight until 7am.”
The bail variation was not opposed by prosecution and therefore granted by Magistrate Mark Howden.
The matter was adjourned for a committal mention on January 17, 2024 in Beenleigh Magistrates Court.
Mr O’Brien said there may be delays with his client’s case due to the evidence relied upon.
“A part of the material is DNA evidence so I expect delays in the case.”
