A Logan aged care nurse with strong ties to the community has applied for bail in court, after being accused of choking and assaulting his wife.
Innocent Ndubuisi Nwaobasi faced Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday, November 21 charged with choking (domestic violence offence).
The 39-year-old Greenbank man was also charged with two counts of common assault and two counts of wilful damage (domestic violence offences).
No pleas have been entered.
The court heard Mr Nwaobasi worked as an aged care nurse in Logan and police allege he assaulted his wife on November 30.
Senior police prosecutor Tim Wise opposed bail but said conditions could be imposed where Mr Nwaobasi must not visit the alleged victim’s suburb.
“Queensland Police will be satisfied if the defendant resides in Banyo and has a no-contact condition,” he said.
“Given the serious nature of the allegations, I ask he reports one day a week too.”
Magistrate Patrina Clohessy granted bail and listed the matter for a committal mention in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on January 10, 2024.
“I am satisfied the defendant has shown cause and there are conditions which can ameliorate the risk of reoffending,” said Magistrate Clohessy.
