A disabled man was robbed and bashed with a gel blaster in Logan, with the attacker promised sex if he helped with the plan.

Domenic Caporale, 37, of Loganholme, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh District Court on Friday, August 24 to armed robbery in company with personal violence and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The court heard that Caporale and co-accused Amity Wyatt planned a robbery on a disabled man on May 23 last year in Eagleby.

Wyatt knew the victim, who had a learning disability, and contacted them on Facebook after forming a plan to rob him of his car.

Wyatt promised Caporale sex if he helped with her plan.

Caporale and Wyatt confronted the man in an Eagleby boat ramp and produced a gel blaster, a realistic-looking fake gun, before robbing him.

They took the keys out of his car and stole his wallet. Caporale then punched him in the face while threatening him.

Caporale told the victim he would shoot him if he did not give him the car.

The pair eventually drove away in the Holden Commodore.

Wyatt was sentenced in a separate court appearance to three and a half years’ prison and given parole eligibility after 12 months.

The court heard Caporale was battling a methamphetamine addiction at the time and had since taken steps in his recovery.

He told the court he was embarrassed and ashamed of his actions.

Judge Craig Chowdhury said the promise of sex for the defendant was bizarre.

“It was an extraordinary arrangement,” he said.

“People want judges to come down like a ton of bricks on offenders like you.

“This type of behaviour needs to be punished.”

Caporale was sentenced to three years’ prison and given an immediate parole release date.

He had already served 446 days of pre-sentence custody.
