The court heard the single mother of eight was charged with drug driving on multiple occasions with methamphetamines in her system between February 15 2020 and February 18 2022.

Among that time the 43-year-old was caught driving unlicensed as a repeat offender on August 25 on 3rd Ave in Marsden.

“Most of the offences relate to you driving when you shouldn’t,” Magistrate Clare Kelly said.

Ms Kerridge had a further 16 offences, including leaving a fuel station without paying, driving an unregistered, uninsured vehicle and failing to appear in court.

“In August 2021 you were charged with using a registration plate that had been cancelled,” police prosecutor Sergeant Kellie Cullen said.

Magistrate Clare Kelly said the most concerning charges were the unlicensed driving and drug driving charges.

“You probably broke many of the rules that you would expect your children to obey,” Magistrate Kelly said.

“You put yourself and other people at risk.”

Ms Kerridge’s lawyer, Ms Scheryn Aspinall-Clarke, said that her client was extremely remorseful.

“She doesn’t want to go back to where she is,” Ms Aspinall-Clarke said.

“She is quite embarrassed and remorseful.”

Ms Kerridge received 12 month probation, with instructions to complete counselling and programs, drug testing and the Queensland traffic offenders program.

No Convictions were recorded.

“You’re a busy lady, you’ve got a large household,” Magistrate Kelly said.

“You are a person that should not even think about getting behind a car again.”
