A Logan father made up to 70 phone calls from behind bars in breach of a domestic violence order after lying to prison officers on two occasions by saying the victim was his partner, a court has heard.
Bahrs Scrub man Brendan Claude Lalot, 38, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Thursday to four offences.
They included breaching a probation order, breaching a domestic violence order, and two counts of prisoners giving false or misleading information.
The court heard Lalot was jailed in Woodford Correctional Centre in early February for 18 months for an offence which, further, was in breach of an 18-month probation order.
Once behind bars, on February 19 and again on March 13, Lalot represented the subject of the DVO to be his current partner, allowing him to make up to 70 phone calls in breach of the order.
The calls ceased on May 21 when the misrepresentation was discovered.
The court did take into account, however, the fact the calls were facilitated by a thawing of relations between the pair since the DVO was made, leading to the high quantity of calls as they were not initially reported.
Defence lawyer Mollie Roper told the court her client had been eligible for parole since May this year, but was unable to make the application until the current charges had been dealt with.
Recognising this, Magistrate Clare Kelly suspended the four-month sentence, meaning Lalot will now be able to apply for parole.
Convictions were automatically recorded.
