A young Logan man has fronted court on five charges after embarking on a drunken McDonald’s run while more than two times the legal limit and crashing his vehicle.

Loganholme removalist Brady Tane Cotter-Clausen, 21, pleaded guilty to all five charges in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday.

They included driving while over the middle blood-alcohol limit, contravening a requirement of police, driver not having proper control of a vehicle, driver not displaying red P-plates, and driving a safe but otherwise defective vehicle.

The court heard the incident in question occurred on February 7 about 5.30pm at the intersection of Clarks Rd and Pacific Mwy Service Rd at Loganholme.

Cotter-Clausen, who the court heard told police he had consumed four beers between 12.30 – 2.30pm that day, was returning from McDonald’s Eagleby and was going to see a friend when the crash occurred.

Cotter-Clausen performed an unsafe left turn onto Clarks Rd, leading him to lock his wheels and crash into the median strip, leaving behind tyre marks on the bitumen and the car stranded in the middle of the road.

When police officers attended the scene, Cotter-Clausen was unable to produce his driver’s licence, had no red P-plates displayed, and his vehicle had “balding tyres and (worn) rubber brake pads”.

Cotter-Clausen told the court he had “learnt from my mistakes”.

He was fined $800 and disqualified from driving for four months.
