A Gold Coast man who was involved in a prang was telling police his version of events on the roadside when, to his horror, a bag of drugs fell from his person onto the ground in front of him.

The embarrassing incident occurred on October 12 this year about 1.30pm, Beenleigh Magistrates Court heard on Tuesday.

Ormeau man Joshua Richard Bower, 33, was driving at Loganholme when a taxi

ran a red light and T-boned him.

Police attended the scene and struck up a conversation with Bower to record his version of events.

While they were making their inquiries, they observed a small clip-seal bag containing a white powder fall from Bower’s clothing and onto the ground.

Bower quickly placed his boot over the bag, which contained 0.86g of cocaine, but the damage had been done, and he was charged with possessing a dangerous drug.

Defence lawyer Bruce Affleck told the court his client was not a “doesn’t usually use coke” due to his employment with a public sector subcontractor, which requires regular drug testing.

Bower was placed on a $500 good-behaviour bond and ordered to perform drug diversion on November 5.

No conviction was recorded.
