A BEACHMERE father-of-two who died last month at a Waterford West unit complex after being allegedly stabbed during an altercation with a friend’s neighbour has been remembered as a Holden tragic, with a special gesture at his funeral allowing his high-school sweetheart to “smile through the tears”.
Steven Kyle Fyfe, 32, died overnight on Tuesday, May 14 after being stabbed at the Bourke St complex at about 8.15pm that evening.

Michael Bruce Olive, 45, has been charged with his murder. His case will next be mentioned in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on August 5.
Mr Fyfe’s funeral was held last Tuesday in Holland Park, a “private affair for immediate family only,” his widow Carly said, but which was streamed live to those who wished to participate.
The couple’s two sons, Steven, 15, and Dominic, 12, Mr Fyfe’s father, Steve, and mother, Patricia, and Carly all travelled to the funeral in Mr Fyfe’s beloved green Holden Commodore VE SS, with Steve at the wheel.
When they arrived at the funeral home, they were greeted by another Holden, this one entirely unexpected: the funeral director had arranged a replica V8 Holden Supercar to stand vigil outside the chapel while Mr Fyfe was farewelled.
Signed 888 Racing Australia posters were also presented to Steven and Dominic, which was especially meaningful, Carly said, because of how hard they had taken the loss of their father.
“Steven (my husband) was a massive Holden fan and it meant so much to us to have a replica Supercar parked there as we said goodbye to him,” Carly said.
“Everything in Steven’s life was Holden. He was always working on one or building one and his VE SS Commodore was his absolute world.
“We’ve been together since we were just kids and it was heartbreaking to have to say goodbye to him, but seeing the Supercar parked outside the chapel and knowing how special that would have been to Steven, helped us get through the day.
“It just meant so much to us.”
Funeral director of George Hartnett Metropolitan Funerals Holland Park Caleb Terrill thanked Eagers Holden and ` for helping make the gesture possible.
