THE victim of a fatal stabbing at Waterford West on Wednesday night has been identified as 32-year-old Beachmere man Steven Kyle Fyfe, a husband and father-of-two.
Mr Fyfe died in hospital after he was allegedly stabbed in an altercation at an apartment complex on Bourke St about 8.15pm.
A 45-year-old Waterford West man has been charged with murder.
His sister, Tamara Hunter, arrived at the apartment around 11am Thursday.
“Steve was a beautiful man, a lovely husband, a wonderful father and the best little brother I could ever ask for,” she said, through tears.
In a heartfelt post on social media Fyfe’s wife Carly has also spoken out about her “best friend and lover”.
“Today I lost my soulmate and the most amazing, loved and adored father to my boys.” the post reads.
“You were my best friend and lover and sometimes my worst enemy (in the best way possible).
“Through everything you were my always and forever and my heart is in a million pieces at the thought of doing life without you by my side. I will love you forever!
A resident of the unit block where the incident occurred confirmed the accommodation is provided by the Department of Housing.
Police will allege there was a verbal altercation between the two men outside the apartment block before the stabbing.
The case will be mentioned in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday.
Investigations are continuing.
A Department of Housing spokesman said they could not comment on the cases of individual tenants.
“The vast majority of Queenslanders living in public housing do the right thing, are good neighbours who and contribute positively to their communities,” he said.
“There is zero tolerance for criminal behaviour and illegal activity and there are strong behaviour management policies in place to ensure that tenants meet their obligations to pay rent, look after their properties and be good neighbours.
“Due to the Privacy Act, the department cannot comment on individual tenants.”
