Bayside man filmed snipping neighbour’s garden

A cranky man on Brisbane’s bayside has been captured on video sneakily trimming his neighbour’s bushes, sticking his head over the fence to snap a branch, before throwing them in a woman’s face.

A Bayside mother has captured footage of her cranky neighbour snapping branches before allegedly throwing them in her face while peering over her fence.

The mother claimed she and her neighbour have had ongoing disputes about the height of her bushes.

She no longer felt safe leaving her home as she feared what she believed the neighbour might do to her backyard.

“I spent $750 on bushes in my front and back yards to keep the neighbour from staring at us from his yard, as his land is about one metre higher than ours,” the mother said.

“A few months ago I noticed our bushes weren’t growing and now we know why.

“We captured him on video on a previous occasion using a hedge trimmer on our garden while standing on his side of the fence,” she said.

The mother said she called police as far back as 2021 before taking the video.

“Four officers came to our home and told us there was nothing they could do as it was a private matter,” the mother said.

On Friday morning she claimed she went outside to find the man snipping her bushes while reaching over the fence.

“I banged on the fence to remind him he can’t do that and was met with profanity, that’s why I got my camera out,” she said.

“I want the bushes to stay at the height they are or the neighbours will be able to see into my bedroom,” she said.

A police spokeswoman said there were no complaints at the address of which they were aware.

“If someone wished to do so they are welcome to attend a police station or make a report on the Policelink website, in which case it would be investigated,” he said.

The mother said that watching the videos made her “blood boil”.
