The picture of an Ipswich McDonald’s worker drying a mop over a fry warmer has prompted a flood of fast food horror stories.

One of them was from a Kallangur woman who shared a horrifying picture of a strip of chicken from KFC with hair wound in and around the coating.

“KFC Kallangur are now serving hairy tenders,” she said.

The woman said she picked out the hairs and continued to eat the chicken.

“You can’t waste food or money in this day and age,” she said.

“I told KFC Kallangur and they offered me a voucher for free piece of chicken, like I want another hairy tender,” she said.

Her post on a social media community page prompted more shocking stories.

Another resident said she complained to the same restaurant on Monday after she received a dry chicken wing, smelly gravy and cold chips.

“The gravy smelt disgusting and the freezing chips had no seasoning,” she said.

A community group member said if you eat rubbish you get served rubbish.

“I literally watched a young worker drop two bits of chicken from a tray onto the floor and asked his manager what he should do,” a Kallangur resident said.

“The manager said it would be fine and the chicken went back on the tray to be served,” he said.

Another resident said he saw a KFC Kallangur worker open a big sauce bag with their teeth.

A KFC spokesman said KFC and its franchisees place the highest priority on food safety and cleanliness across all restaurants.

“Action has been taken at KFC Kallangur to ensure our high standards are met,” a spokesman said.
