A man with a history of dishonesty offences plundered thousands of dollars from an unattended till at a Logan services club during their annual Melbourne Cup party.
Waterford West man Andrew Stuart Perry, 48, was charged with stealing following the theft at Logan Diggers Services Club on November 5 last year.

Beenleigh Magistrates Court heard the Melbourne Cup party at the club involved multiple dry bars and temporary cash tills.
About 1.41pm, Perry loitered briefly around an unattended till before reaching over and depressing the emergency release button, pocketing $2350 “without hesitation”, the court heard.
Police attended the club on November 10 where they witnessed CCTV footage clearly showing the offence.
Perry was charged at his Waterford West address on December 2.
The court heard Perry had a lengthy history of stealing, including on March 4 last year where he was placed on 12 months’ probation, meaning these current offences breached that order.
Perry had previously stolen tools from a Bunnings Warehouse and cash from an unattended till at the Logan Hyperdome, the court was told.
Defence counsel Jack Kennedy told the court Perry’s theft was “opportunistic and unsophisticated”.
He said his client had a troubled upbringing, adopted at an early age, and had struggled with drug addiction.
Perry was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment with immediate court-ordered parole.
He was ordered to pay $2350 compensation at the club.
