The state’s top 150 primary schools can be revealed with 11 state schools making the top 25 in the 2023 rankings, an independent analysis has shown.
Better Education, an independent specialist schools website, has released the latest Queensland’s best schools rankings – a compilation of public and private schools.
The state overall score, used to rank the primary institutions, is calculated using the school’s Year 5 English and maths test results in 2023. A score of 100 is the highest, the lowest in this particular ranking was 90.
In the latest list, 72 state schools made the 2023 top 150, a slight improvement on the 2022 ranking which featured 69.
Sunnybank Hills State School and Citipointe Christian College maintained their spots in the top three, but they are now joined by Ipswich Grammar School – which rose from 12th to third.
Remaining changes inside the top 10 were Anglican Church Grammar School jumping from eighth to fifth, while The Southport School shot up from 23rd to eighth.
Other big movers in the top 25 were Indooroopilly State School, Newmarket State School, Wooloowin State School, Matthew Flinders Anglican College, and Yarranlea Primary School.
There were four schools which ranked outside the top 150 in 2022, but featured within the top 25 in the latest list – Mount Tyson State School, Brisbane Boys College, Charters Towers School of Distance Education, and Clayfield College.
Other strong performers included St Ignatius in Toowong rising from a ranking of 84 to 26, Northside Christian College in Everton Park climbed from 60th to 27th, and St Columba’s Primary School in Wilston rose from 101 to 41.
Elsewhere, Immanuel Lutheran College on the Sunshine Coast strengthened its position from 103 to 42, St Peters Lutheran College in Springfield Central climbed to 52nd after sitting at 105th the year before, and Dutton Park State School went from 135 to 98.
