Queensland’s 150 top ranked primary schools have been revealed on independent website Better Education, with an equal mix of public and private schools making the grade.
Sunnybank Hills State School took out first place for a second year in a row with a perfect score of 100.
It had full marks for English and maths.
This year’s most improved goes to St Ambrose’s Primary School in Newmarket, which went from 224th position to 34.
Five schools from Toowoomba were ranked in the top 150, while the Brisbane suburb The Gap had four.
New entries to the top 150 this year include Sinai College, St Rita’s School, Coolum Beach Christian College, Border Rivers Christian College, Yarranlea Primary School, Belmont State School, Banana State School, Coningsby State School, Longreach School of Distance Education and Glamorgan Vale State School.
Better Education’s list is based on Year 5 results with English and maths rated out of five and the overall academic performance with three rating scales.
Better Education is an independently-run site that aims to provide “informative and comparative school performance … to parents wanting to make choices about schooling for their children”.
