We’re starting the day in Mitchelton, 10km northwest of Brisbane, where house prices have climbed 23.5 per cent in 12 months and now sit at a median of $894,822, CoreLogic quarterly data out today shows. This post-war home on a large block is coming to market for the first time in 19 years and offers development potential. Build new to capture city views or renovate the existing house and enjoy the leafy surrounds.

We’re heading a little further north to Chermside West which has seen property prices increase 26.2 per cent in a year to $798,768. This home was bought in October last year in a sorry state and has been renovated ahead of its sale today and agents reckon it will be the first three-bedder in Chermside West to sell for more than $1m. It’s on a large block with the popular Downfall Creek nearby. New features include ducted airconditioning, a renovated kitchen with stone benches, chic bathroom tiling and new paint.

Gordon Park house prices have climbed 26 per cent in a year, and 9.3 per cent in the past three months, to $1,167,184.
