Place Bulimba abandoned on-site auctions but kept everyone dry at their headquarters on Oxford St, Bulimba which is also just down the road from two election day polling booths - so buyers could purchase a house and vote for their preferred federal member in one go!
Other auctions still went ahead onsite despite the forecast rain. There were 59 properties heading to auction across Greater Brisbane on Saturday. Detailed auction results can be found in our live auction blog on the couriermail.com.au homepage.
REPLAY: 22 Greycliffe St, Mount Gravatt East sells for 1.09M
This property last sold for $540,000 in 2016 and has been ‘neatly renovated’ ahead of Saturday’s auction.
“It’s mainly downsizers and first-home buyers going for this one,” Place Woolloongabba agent Jess Roser says. “It’s a beautifully-presented post-war home and we’ve had a lot of comments about the landscaping front and back.”
The sellers are capitalising on the growth in house prices and selling their home with a view to buying again in six months’ time. They’ll move in with family until then.
Property experts say this is a good financial strategy in the current market. FIND OUT WHY HERE.

Built in 2019, this contemporary, industrial home with elevated city views is attracting interstate and local buyers. Almost 60 groups have inspected the home with its architectural Lysaght cladding giving interest from street level while brickwork adds warmth to the rear outdoor entertainment area. The home has natural black butt timber flooring, Cloudburst stone bench tops, and a glass door commercial refrigerator. There is an in-ground swimming pool, a large workshop with in-ceiling storage, and integrated wine fridges. Agent: Ann-Karyn Fraser, Place New Farm; Auctioneer: Paul Curtain
REPLAY 41 Burke St, Coorparoo - didn’t sell
IN-ROOM AUCTION
Land bankers and homeowners looking for a double block will bid at this auction which will be held at Place Bulimba headquarters, 140 Oxford St, Bulimba, instead of onsite due to the rain.
“It’s a great opportunity for someone to add their own value to the property,” Place Bulimba selling agent Paula Pearce says. “You can't remove the house but it can be moved over and that gives the site development possibilities.”
About 20 groups of buyers have inspected the home ahead of the auction. The sellers have used this property as a long-term investment and are ‘just changing direction’. Agents: Paula Pearce and Mikaela Crone, Place Bulimba; Auctioneer: Paul Curtain
REPLAY 16/736 Ipswich Rd, Annerley – sells for $510,000
ONSITE AUCTION
This apartment was being sold by private treaty, seeking offers over $440,000, but after the first open home, interest was so high it converted to an auction campaign. Three written offers have already been received, one of which is above the reserve price set for Saturday’s auction.
“The main thing for buyers with this one is that it has a double car space,” COCO Beyond Brisbane lead agent Thomas Lee says.
Interested buyers include two women who are currently renting together and intend to share the cost of the property to make it more affordable in the current climate.
The unit is renovated, with fresh paint and new carpets, so it will be shoes off for this auction. It’s also on a main road but the unit is at the back so it’s nice and quiet.
Agent: Thomas Lee, COCO Beyond – Brisbane; Auctioneer: Christian Hamilton
REPLAY 13 Adina St, Norman Park – sells for $895,000
IN-ROOM AUCTION
The reserve price on this home cannot be revealed but lead agent Shane Hicks says it is ‘absolute entry level in Norman Park’ and first-home buyers who have lucked-out in this suburb should definitely attend.
Money guru Mark Bouris' advice for first home buyers
“The sellers have bought up the coast subject to the sale of this so they are very keen to get it sold under the hammer,” Mr Hicks says. “It’s an opportunity for anybody, an investor, a first-home buyer, or even a renovator. It is a very rare opportunity. And the home is in reasonable condition, the building and pest are all okay and the people have lived there for 15 years very comfortably.” This auction will be held in-rooms at Place Bulimba headquarters, 140 Oxford St, Bulimba. Agent: Shane Hicks and Antonio Puopolo, Place Bulimba; Auctioneer: Paul Curtain
