It's time to take the shoes off and settle in to the weekend.
An Olympic power couple sold their home in Windsor, a 12-year-old made the opening bid for her parents in Parkinson, 15 bidders were spotted in Mansfield, and the top sale of the day was $4.3m in Ascot. Thanks for joining our live auction coverage and we'll see you again next weekend.
House with links to Wallace Bishop sells
40 Rialanna St, Kenmore. Agent: Jo Langstaff, Ray White Metro West.
The former home of jewellery giant Wallace Bishop has sold under the hammer for $3.807m. The property headed to auction this weekend for the first time in 20 years, with local buyers in Kenmore keen to pick up this iconic home initially named ‘The Gem’. Ray White Metro West agent Jo Langstaff said she was absolutely delighted in the result from the auction. “I was never entirely sure what to expect … It’s an iconic house, it was always going to attract people, a lot of the buyers were local and they already knew the house”, Ms Langstaff said. “I think that pulled on the heart strings, anything that is historic has an emotional pull on the buyers”.
Art Deco unit block still on the market
16 Archibald St, West End
Two side by side blocks went under the hammer in West End today, and while the home at 18 Archibald Street sold under the hammer, the neighbouring art deco unit complex at 16 Archibald Street passed in.
18 Archibald St, West End
According to Ray White South Brisbane agent, Luke Croft, the major difference was 18 Archibald Street was a post-war building which could be knocked down and redeveloped, while 16 Archibald Street could not be demolished as it was pre-war.

“18 Archibald was purchased by a local family who wanted to knock down and build a new home. He was an architect,” Mr Croft said. “It had been in the sellers' family for over 70 years. “The market has improved over the last four weeks. Low number of stock and lack of available properties is fuelling that. There’s a lot of good buyers currently out in the market. “This property, being post-war, presented a rare opportunity in West End because you could demolish it and rebuild.”
5 Eastbourne Terrace, Macleay Island
5 Eastbourne Terrace, Macleay Island, Agent: Debra Hayman, LJ Hooker Macleay Island
A three-bedroom, one-bathroom home at 5 Eastbourne Terrace was passed despite high expectations for the Macleay Island home. The property is close to the CBD but we’re a little confused whether LJ Hooker Macleay Island is referring to Brisbane or Macleay Island as Brisbane is a 'short' 57km ride from here. The home could be a good investment opportunity for a buyer or a place to retire. LJ Hooker Macleay Island agent Debra Hayman declined to comment further on the property.
12-year-old offers $1m opening bid
80 Woodlark Cres, Parkinson. Agent: Jason Song, Place Sunnybank
A 12-year-old girl shouted out the opening bid at the auction of this brand new luxury home with a granny flat in the outer suburb of Parkinson. The $1m bid was real money, her parents, but it wasn't enough to buy the home. Four registered bidders got the property to $1.6m before it passed in.
14 Rosebud Esplanade, Victoria Point
14 Rosebud Esplanade, Victoria Point. Agent: Will Torres, Torres Property Coorparoo
Passing in at auction today is this luxury waterfront home with unobstructed views. Four bidders took the home to auction. Two buyers, one from the south coast and the other from around Victoria Point, actively participated in the auction after an opening bid of $2m but the property passed with a vendor bid in the mid-$2m.
Agent refuses bidder registrations
16 Butler St, Ascot Place Ascot director Patrick McKinnon
A beautifully renovated dual-level property at 16 Butler St, Ascot, was passed in due to low bidding. Two people wanted to register to bid but were declined. Place Ascot director Patrick McKinnon said: “We didn’t let anyone bid as the offers were so low”. “There are so many people out there trying to buy homes at the moment."
16 Butler St, Ascot
“The reality of the world at the moment is it’s a bit of an arm wrestle”. Mr McKinnon said he was confident the property would sell and negotiations would take place. The home is just minutes from Ascot station, Racecourse Road’s attractions, and high-performing schools. According to PropTrack data, the median house price for Ascot between May 2022 and April 2023 is $2.17m, a 16.7% increase in the past twelve months.
10 bidders in Underwood

6 The Heights, Underwood. Agent: Happy Helen, Happy Real Estate International. Auctioneer: David Holmes
More than 6000 people live in the Logan suburb of Underwood but only 76 houses have sold there over the past 12 months, so it's no wonder that 10 registered bidders descended on this family home at auction today. The five-bedroom house on 709sq m, with a saltwater swimming pool and outdoor shower, sold for $1.205m which is $400,000 above the suburb's median house price of $809,000.
Tassie mother/daughter duo fight off 15 bidders in St Lucia
14/108 Macquarie St, St Lucia. Agent: Robin Mcilwain, Ray White Toowong
The temperature in Tasmania is already as low as 3 degrees overnight so why wouldn't you make the move to Queensland! A mother and daughter duo joined a crowd of first home buyers and young couples at the auction of this three-bedroom, top floor apartment. Seven of the registered bidders actively took part in the auction with the interstate bidders eventually buying the apartment for $1.21m. “Bidders were attracted to its size, it’s 175sq m in a building of only 15 apartments,” Ray White Toowong lead agent, Robin Mcilwain said. “It was the top floor and the buyers specifically wanted a penthouse. It has lock-up accommodation for three cars. It’s also quite rare to get north facing Brisbane river frontage.” The Tasmanian buyers intend to renovate the home for the mother to live in.
Outer suburb home makes $300,000 in two years
8 Dendron St, Shailer Park. Agent: Julia Zhu, Elegance Realty Sunnybank. Auctioneer: David Holmes
Six seems to be the magic bidder number today, with another six buyers attending the auction of this two-storey home in Brisbane's outer southern suburb of Shailer Park where the median house price is currently $845,000. Auctioneer David Holmes sold the property under the hammer for $972,000. It last sold in April 2021 for $650,000.
