Ray White Queensland chief auctioneer Gavin Croft said Brisbane continued its hot streak in the auction arena this week, with 48 auctions scheduled across the river city today.

“With a personal clearance rate of 100 per cent and eight average bidders today, vendors are being rewarded for quality family homes as there is some very strong demand," Mr Croft said.

“A few highlights we saw from Brisbane today, including Jason Song from Ray White Rochedale selling 104 Glenfield Street, Parkinson for $1,145,000 with eight registered bidders."

A charming cottage in one of Brisbane's most popular riverside suburbs sold under the hammer at an auction that attracted four registered bidders.

Ray White auctioneer Haesley Cush said it was a competitive and emotional auction. "The underbidders only just missed out and had only been in Brisbane for a week, coming from Sydney,” he said. "The team had actually just sold the underbidders’ friends a property recently, and are hoping to help them secure a property in the near future."

Multiple bidders fought it out for this double-storey, three-bedder with a pool in the popular suburb of Tarragindi.

Marketed by Mitchell Smith of Place Estate Agents, the home is in a number of quality school catchments, which led it to attract interest from young families and first homebuyers.

Place Estate Agents chief auctioneer Peter Burgin, who had nine auctions booked for today, has just brought the hammer down on a three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment by the river in Kangaroo Point.

Brisbane's apartment market has started performing strongly in recent months, and this property was attractive because of its size (129 sqm) and views.

The auction results keep rolling in across Brisbane.

On the city's bayside, a four-bedroom, contemporary home has sold under the hammer for $1.15m.

Marketed by Gaby McEwan of McGrath Wynnum Manly, the near-new home attracted strong interest because of its 'move-in ready' state.

PASSED IN FOR $1.6M : 20 FAVERSHAM ST, WOOLLOONGABBA

An historic inner Brisbane cottage from the late-1800s has passed in at auction for $1.6m.

Marketed by James Curtain of Place Estate Agents, the character home in Woolloongabba is owned by the brother of renowned interior designer, Anna Spiro, and her touches are evident in the styling of the home.

Named 'Amelia Cottage', the home has been brought back to life but retains the character charm. It is one of the original houses in the area, with a combined 50m frontage to Toohey and Faversham Street.

A local family looking to upgrade within Clayfield held out until the very end to secure this huge, five-bedroom, four-bathroom home on more than 1000 sqm of land.

Six bidders actively competed for the home, with bidding starting at $2.8m and q quickly ramping up to $3.7m. There was a pause for negotiations before an increased bid of $3.95m was put on the table. Then, a new bidder out of nowhere to offer $3.975m only to be outdone by one of the original bidders with a final $3.98m.

Marketing agent Nick Roche of Ray White said the home attracted strong interest during the campaign due to its size and location.

SOLD FOR $2.65M: 50 GIRRAWEEN GROVE, ASHGROVE

Around 100 people – mostly young families – gathered to witness the hammer come down on a large, family home in Ashgrove.

Ray White marketing agent Judi O'Dea said 11 parties registered to bid for the property in the sought-after suburb of Ashgrove.

Bidding started at $1.8m, and quickly increased to $2.3m, before slowing down. Once $2.45m was reached, there were no more offers, so negotiations took place withe highest bidders.

After about 15 minutes, auctioneer Justin Nickerson emerged with an increased offer of $1.65m and resumed the auction, but there were no more takers, so the home sold for $1.65m.

Mr Nickerson said he expected bidding to be a bit more fast-paced than it was, but was happy with the result.

He said Ashgrove was always a popular suburb, but spring was starting to bring out more crowds.


18 PARKER ST, NEWMARKET: SOLD FOR $2.34M

The auction action kicked off early this weekend, with a five-bedroom, three-bathroom home at 18 Parker St, Newmarket selling under the hammer on Friday night for $2.34m, with an opening bid of $1.5m.
It was a really intense auction, and came down to a race between two bidders.
Auctioneer Phil Parker said the home built in the 1920's was beautifully renovated ticked all the boxes.
"This property would be a wonderful place to raise a family," Mr Parker said.
Ray White marketing agent Andy Flanagan said homes like this bring strong results.
"It's a beautiful home," Mr Flanagan said.
"At the moment we're seeing double digit registrations across all of our actions.
"We have close to 50 to 100 people coming to our open home's over a four week campaign. I think it's a pretty good sign of how the market is going at the moment."
