Rolling Rock nightclub at Hastings St, Noosa hits the market

One of Noosa’s most well-known glitter strip nightclubs, with a dance floor that has attracted everyone from A-listers to backpackers and reality stars, is for sale.

One of Noosa’s most well-known nightspots that has hosted A-list celebrities, and famously rejected two people with one of the biggest music stars of the 90s, is up for sale.

The Rolling Rock nightclub on Hastings St hit the market about two weeks ago and Forde Property sales agent Jessie Allen, who is handling the sale, said interest in the business was strong.

She said Queenslanders familiar with the area, including club owners, had inquired.

“It is a large format venue, and one of only a few 2am licences on Hastings St,” she said.

“It’s an opportunity to get in there and get involved in the night-life of Noosa.”

The Rolling Rock opened in the 90s and has played host to A-listers and sports stars including former NRL players Braith Anasta and Willie Mason.

Two members of U2’s entourage were controversially ejected from the club in 1998 for wearing open-toed sandals.

Lead singer Bono, guitarist The Edge and drummer Larry Mullen stood by as two of their 16-strong group failed to meet dress regulation requirements.

The club’s Lyndon Simmons said at the time that rules were rules.

The business is priced at offers of more than $750,000 by negotiation.

Ms Allen said because of the layout, with a bar and bathroom upstairs and another bar and bathroom downstairs, there was potential to split the venue into two businesses.

She said significant renovations had taken place last year, which included new bathrooms, flooring and more dance floor room in the DJ area.

“We’re really excited by what the Rock has got coming for it, it’ll be interesting to see how it’s revamped,” Ms Allen said.
