A prestigious hilltop home in northeast Brisbane has been entirely reimagined by its current owners into a striking contemporary family home.
Renowned Brisbane architect Noel Robinson originally designed the home at 109A Anthony Street, Ascot, built-in 2000 has been completely reimagined with a total renovation undertaken by the current owners.
Working collaboratively with Michael Fiumara of Profile Architecture and Leia Macaione of Studio LMD, the current owners undertook a redesign and restyling of the home to a contemporary, prestigious standard while retaining its timeless features.
From the Tasmanian Oak-lined exterior ceilings and Turkish Travertine floor tiles, the Victorian Ash timber staircase and balustrade feature, solid European Oak Tongue & Groove interior floors and the eye-catching, leather-finished Italian granite waterfall-edge kitchen island in Cambrian Black are just a few of the luxurious features this property has to offer buyers.
Owner Will Zhong said the most memorable moment from his time at the home was how they renovated the house.
“I enjoyed renovating the house and making it perfect for my family. From making sure we had plenty of space out the front to make it easier for my wife to park, places for the kids to play and a spot for the ladies to enjoy the afternoon,” Mr Zhong said.
“This is a multifunctional house; there is so much to enjoy. You have the terrace out the back, the front living area, minigolf, the swimming pool and the Gold Class cinema.
“The skirting you see around the house I saw while we were at Hayman Island, you won’t see many like it around Brisbane. I was reluctant to put it in at first. There are a lot of ideas when you’re starting to renovate, and you realise what you want and can achieve; we put in almost everything we wanted to make it perfect.
“My favourite feature is the kitchen as I cook a lot. We made sure to put in a fully functional professional kitchen with premium appliances that a professional chef would be happy with.”
Mr Zhong said the costs that went into the house you could demolish and build a new home.
“The house is of good quality and better than most homes built today. We put the solid European Oak tongue floors and Groove interior floors in, and there haven’t been any cracks in them at all. I think to get something of this high quality is very rare,” he said.
“We have enjoyed living here but will move closer to our kid’s school. The house we will move into is only about 300 metres from St Margarets Anglican Girls School and will be perfect for our kids.”
Property agent Elisa McMahon from ATLAS Brisbane – Inner North said there has been a strong interest in the home.
“We’ve had 61 groups through the property, that’s about 120 people, which certainly indicates a strong interest. We’ve already received an offer on the property that the owner is reviewing from an overseas buyer,” Ms McMahon.
“I’ve had a fair amount of interest from downsizers looking to come out of larger homes in the area and a lot of interest from our Chinese clientele. They are very discerning and understand the importance of high-end luxury finishes from the perspective of being able to enjoy it and from a resell perspective.”
Ms McMahon said there was strong interest in her prestige listings, but there still wasn’t enough stock to meet buyers’ demand.
“I wish I had more stock. I’ve got lists of buyers waiting to purchase a home,” she said.
“As a downsizing specialist, I’ve also got lots of buyers wanting the space of a residential freestanding home without the maintenance.”
109A Anthony Street, Ascot heads to auction at 4pm on October 7.
