ACADEMY award winner Reese Witherspoon has addressed a crowd of 4000-plus people at Australia‘s biggest real estate conference on the Gold Coast.
In a message titled “Lessons From The South”, Ms Witherspoon gave her insights on building a personal brand, setting boundaries, the importance of authenticity and how adapting to technology can take businesses to a new level.
The AREC conference is celebrating 25 years and is being held over two days from May 28 – May 29 at the Gold Coast Convention Centre.
Ms Witherspoon, appeared by video link in an interactive Q&A and advised the crowd to remember the small things that can impact working relationships.
“Keep relationships at every level …. PAs and assistants, remember everyone‘s name, flowers, thank you cards, families and interests.
“Hire the right people, recognise when you don‘t get it right … provide guidance along the way, empower them.
“Authentic value and voice creates better engagement”, she said.
Ms Witherspoon said to come home and find one positive thing about work.
“Always pull out the positive. ego is the death to creativity, she said.
“Slow growth is great, and this is the key to long-term success.
“Keep the standards, set the bar high, hire the right people and recognise when you don‘t get it right”.
Ms Witherspoon emphasised the value of mentorship in the workplace.
“Reach out and call during the hard times, have crucial conversations”, she said
“Don‘t just call during the good times”.
Ms Witherspoon also emphasised the importance of adapting to technological advancements and the power of video.
“The game has been run and won”, Ms Witherspoon said.
“They created the car, and you‘re still riding a bike … media and technology is here to stay, adapt or die.
“Why wouldn‘t you use every tool in the toolbox: Podcasting, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn
“Find a niche and deep dive, get the feedback for future events”.
