THE smell of a pork roast at Christmas, catching the ferry to New Farm, and the country charm of their community.
These are just some of the things Brent Poulter and Amy Wilkins will miss about their Bulimba home.
It’s easy to see why the Brisbane couple are reluctant to say goodbye to their American-inspired sanctuary, seeping with rustic charm, in one of the city’s most sough-after riverside suburbs.
The five-bedroom, three-bathroom home at 38 Portside Place has a striking facade that stands out from the rest of the homes in the street.
Once inside, exposed timber ceilings with century-old beams from Brett’s Wharf create a sense of warmth with French doors, timber floors, pendant lights and a neutral colour palette showcased throughout the home.
The open-plan living, dining area and kitchen on the first floor flow seamlessly to the entertaining alfresco overlooking the pool.
Buyers will be blown away by the views of the river and city on the rooftop terrace with a wet bar and jacuzzi.
Mr Poulter and Ms Wilkins, who are the owners of local Brisbane burger chain ‘Getta Burger’, have lived in the home for four years and enjoyed many celebrations, including Christmases and birthdays.
The original builder, a friend of the couple, even had his wedding at the property.
“Our home has so many unique features across the property with beautiful views of the city end to end,” Ms Wilkins said.
“We’ve recently renovated the top bathrooms of the home to bring them up to date.
“I love the master suite because it is so grand, the stone bathtub, stone tiles and overlooking the Brisbane River.
“I will miss the Christmas gatherings we’ve had for the past four years. We have a big wooden table that seats about 10 people around it, and to do the pork roast in the outdoor kitchen.
“Bulimba is an open doors community, and the street is amazing to live in.
“It has a real country feel, and everyone is very social. Our kids bounce from door to door and have many friends here.”
Mr Poulter and Ms Wilkins plan on moving to Noosa for a sea change.
“We’ve had a few business changes that have allowed us not to be as tied down to Brisbane,” Mrs Wilkins said.
“I hope the new owners appreciate the character of the property, the quality of the build, take advantage of being so close to the ferry, walking to the New Farm markets and enjoy being part of such a great community.”
Property agent Sarah Hackett from Place New Farm said the home was a natural entertainer and a unique opportunity for buyers.
“The person who originally built the property spent $1m on it 20 years ago,” Ms Hackett said.
“From the beautiful century-old beams from Brett’s Wharf and the American resort vibe, this is an exceptional home.”
Ms Hackett said mostly families have been interested in the property so far.
“There has been significant interest from people that like to cook and entertain.
“One lucky buyer will feel great coming home to a property that will only get better with time.”
38 Portside Place, Bulimba is accepting top offers until 4pm September 12.
