A late grandmother's home has been lovingly passed from her six grandchildren to a betrothed couple, looking for their forever home.

The property at 32 Longlands St, East Brisbane, was being lived in by the owner and her granddaughter, living in separate parts of the dual-living accomodation.

With three bedrooms and three bathrooms, the house featured an original asymmetrical design, with a floor dedicated to the two living areas and a lower ground floor for the garage and utility rooms.

Our auction livestream will run throughout the day, and our live blog will capture auction results from across Greater Brisbane.

10 registered bidders arrived with a heavy interest in the property, with seven of them active participants in the fast-paced bidding war.

Starting at $900,000, around thirty bids took place as the competition whittled down to an investor and a couple fighting for the house.

With the house being called on the market at $1.15 million, bidding slowed when the price reached $1.295 million. With the investor making one last attempt for the house at $1.298 million, a $4,000 increase won the new family their home at $1.302 million.

The Agency Brisbane agent Madi Roche said it was "an emotional sale", following a lot of close calls between the underbidder and the final buyer.

"It was a very competitive auction," she said, adding the grandchildren were "very happy" the home was going to another family.

The home will now be owner-occupied by the new buyers: a young couple getting married in only a couple of months, who plan to tidy up the property.

"It will be their future family home," Ms Roche said.

Wishart sale sets record with buyers from around the globe

Buyers interstate and international tuned in to this Wishart sale, which set a record price in that pocket of the suburb.

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom home at 9 Mockingbird Court features two ensuites, an inground pool with a spa and private fencing for kids to play while they grow up in the cul-de-sac.

The house saw 124 groups go through the house during its campaign, and had 20 registered bidders appear on the day of the auction.

The auction was conducted on-site and on Facebook live, where other bidders were able to tune in.

RE/MAX Revolution agent Henry Wong said it was an exciting day with a home so crowded it could be mistaken for a 'Where's Wally'.

'It was very hectic – the room was so full," he said.

Mr Wong said he had noticed one-storey houses such as this one had been seeing "more popularity on the market" lately, particularly for downsizing families.

With bidding starting at $1.3 million, over a dozen bids occured before the home sold under the hammer at $1,915,700.

The winning buyers were a young family, who were considering moving into Wishart due to the promising school catchment, the Mansfield State and State High School areas.

A couple looking to start their family in Bardon win a tense bidding war for an immaculate suburban property.

Around forty people arrived at 24 Accession St at 10am Saturday, with 6 registered bidders placing an interest in the home.

Some residents of the neighbourhood also attended the auction for the two-storey house, describing it as "immaculate".

"You can move in right away," one said, adding the neighborhood was a great place for access to schools.

With four bedrooms and two bathrooms, Caroline Brown of Caroline Brown Property described the home as a "beautiful property" in a lifestyle location.

With a $1.7 million opening bid, three active bidders competed to claim the property, the price slowly climbing over dozens of bids.

With a last-minute arrival registering during the auction, the bidding war stayed a close contest as the price climbed by $5-10,000 each bid.

Winning by a margin of only $5000, the winning couple claimed the property at $2.115 million.

The suburb median property price is $1,820,000, meaning the house for $295,000 over the median.

When the new owners had realised they had won, the couple launched into a hug, laughing together as they celebrated their new home.

"We weren't sure we were gonna get it at all – it was our first auction," one said. "We've been nervous for about a week."

"We love the location: you get the greenery of Bardon, but it's still in the middle of the city. So you get city and country."

The couple's extended family also attended the bidding, congratulating the two when they had one.

"We're going to start a family [here]," they said.

Colourful cottage claimed for over $2 million

A woman who lived in her cottage for 93 years has sold it to a new family in a "ferocious" bidding war.

The vendor lived at the three-bedroom, one-bathroom cottage at 64-66 Kalinga St, Clayfield, ever since she was three years of age.

Her family assisted with the auction, which had 17 registered bidders and 6 active participants.

After an opening bid of $1 million, offers quickly rose by increment of $100,000 dollars, jumping back and forth between parties until two bidders were left.

By the end of the auction, the offer had increased by $1.35 million, with the owners winning the property for $2.35 million.

Ray White Ascot agent Vanessa Harte said the auction was "very exciting", and the old owners' family are feeling bittersweet about the sale.

“[They're] a little bit sad, but happy it was sold to a family who will make it their home,” she said.

Ms Harte said the new owners were a family with young children, looking to renovate the property into a grand home and “return it to its former glory”.

Single bid wins young family their new home

For the chance to win their new two-story home, one well-placed bid was all this family needed.

The four-bedroom two-bathroom home at 8 Downes St, Tarragindi, found six registered bidders stepping up to place interest on the property.

With a starting bid of 1.4 million, the second bidder increased the price of the home by $300,000, placing their bid of $1.7 million.

Bidding slowly increased by increments of $50,000, $20,000, then $10,000.

The property then went on the market – which was when the winners stepped in, placing an offer $10,000 over the underbidder's price.

The house was finally sold for $1.86 million.

Place Woolloongabba agent Denis Najzar said the young family who won played a smart bidding game, and would now be living in the home they bought.

"The winning family had a good strategy," he said. "They stayed back, did not participate in the bidding process until the property was announced on the market."

Investors were also present during the bid, which Mr Najzar said was a recent development – with fewer investors bidding on properties since the Covid-19 pandemic.

"We're seeing a bit of a shift again," he said.

The most-viewed home up for auction in Queensland this week was snatched up days before bidding even began.

PropTrack’s latest Property Preview Report has shown 78 Priests Rd, Deception Bay, to be the highest-viewed Queensland property at realestate.com.au scheduled to go to auction this week.

But after a $1.63 million offer, the owners were happy to give away the four-bedroom, two-bathroom home with nearly 2 acres of land.

Ray White Deception Bay agent Clare Robins said the owners of ‘The Farm by the Bay’ worked hard on a marketing campaign to promote the house, and would be overjoyed to hear of its popularity.

“The current owner is a stylist and really put her heart and soul into the presentation of this home,” she said. “We worked together to create the perfect marketing campaign. We are so proud of how it all came together.”

The old owners of the property worked hard to advertise it to interested buyers.

Opposite Freshwater National Park, the home features a large yard space, gated pool and 8-person spa, in addition to updated modern amenities.

“I don’t know another place other than Deception Bay that offers acreage by the sea,” Ms Robins said.

The second most-viewed Queensland property up for a Saturday auction is a four-bedroom, three-bathroom home at 9 Mockingbird Court, Wishart.
