Bah-bye GC, hello New Farm

Six registered bidders signed on to battle it out for 203/79 Moray Street, New Farm, but in the end just two were brave enough to raise their paddles.

Ray White auctioneer Haesley Cush called the auction, with the hammer falling at $680,000, not bad when you consider the median unit price in the sought-after suburb is typically $736,000 and the median house price is an eyewatering $2.94m.

The new owner has two dogs and has just sold on the Gold Coast while the seller is relocating to be closer to her family.

“I have been in New Farm for 15 years and there are always more buyers, and more demand," Ray White New Farm agent Claudia Marchand said.

"Everyone wants to come and live in this area. It’s a great market, we’re very busy, and we love it!”

The modern one-bedroom unit is located in a complex with secure entry, a pool, gym, common lawns and river views.

511 Honour Avenue, Sherwood – The iconic “Sherwood Story Book House” was scheduled for auction earlier today – its first time on the market in over 40 years. But alas, it would appear there is no happy ending just yet with the romantic residence on a 1061sq m block listed "for sale" this afternoon.

He said there had been plenty of pre-auction interest. "No one was prepared to bid today but now that we have a price I expect it to go soon," he said.

A local family will raise their four children at 20 Myrtle Street, Grange, after snapping up the prized 1214sq m property at auction for $2.006m.

Eight registered bidders made 78 bids, with Hugo Alexander Property Group agent Adam Nobel saying it was the best auction he had done in years.

"The home was in the same family for 74 years, and only had two owners and now it goes to another family who will raise their kids."

Burlington Property agent Ben Collins said it would likely be listed with a price of around $2.95m next week.

"We were aiming for mid-$3ms as there was a comparable sale on the same street, with one selling for $3.3m about 12-18 months ago," he said.

27 registered bidders but the winner is a buyer "who came in from nowhere"

A high-set brick house in Wishart has sold for $1.23m – a whopping $1.125m more than the owner paid for it back in 1986.

Within walking distance of Westfield Mt Gravatt, school, parks, and bus stops, the four bedroom house on a 638sq m block attracted 27 registered bidders, eight who were active.

“The winning bid went to a family who are moving to Brisbane from Taiwan," Ray White Rochedale agent Anton Silaen said.

"They came in from nowhere and bid as soon as they heard it was on the market. "The parents are already in Brisbane while the children are moving later."

Meanwhile the seller ios downsizing to a unit in Highgate Hill.

The property was auctioned by Ray White's Phill Broom.

$175,000 OVER RESERVE!!!!

A character Queenslander with city views at 118 Stoneleigh St in Lutwyche attracted 24 registered bidders when it went under the hammer at 10am.

Nine of those bidders were active, with Ray White auctioneer Gavin Croft slamming down his imaginary hammer at $1.46m – $175,000 above the reserve.

That's a handsome return on the $505,500 the vendors paid for the property back in 2002.

With a crowd of approximately 100 people viewing the auction, the winning bid went to a local owner occupier.

The sellers had lived at the home for 21 years, raised their family, and were downsizing.

“The property was in a great location on the cusp of Windsor, Lutwyche, and Albion, close to transport," Ray White Brisbane City agent Dean Yesberg said.

"The home is an original Queenslander with plenty of potential to renovate as well as city views.”
