Gold Coast housing prices skyrocket

A 1970s-era unit block on Chevron Island’s northern tip will be demolished and replaced by a luxury boutique complex under fresh plans before council.

Prolific developer Sherpa Group has lodged plans with the Gold Coast City Council to redevelop the 1710sq m Aroona Marina site on Stanhill Drive and replace it with a three-storey project which will contain just 10 units.

If given the green light, it will be the developer’s 11th Gold Coast project to be built in the past six years.

Sherpa founder Christie Leet said he had fast-tracked his plans for the site and would begin construction in late 2024 if given the green light.

“This is one of the best sites on the coast and it’s a great addition to the Sherpa brand. We are excited to be progressing our plans for this site by lodging the development application (during) the Christmas break,” he said.

“We believe a boutique project is a perfect fit for Chevron Island with an intimate design that lends itself to sophisticated, yet private, lifestyle.

“We think our buyers are those already in the vicinity, particularly downsizers, so we have worked hard to make them as good to live in as a house with a huge emphasis on security.”

Mr Leet said he would launch the project to the market in early 2024.

The complex will have four units on its ground and first floor, with two penthouses topping the building on its third level.

All units will have a minimum of three bedrooms while the penthouses will have four rooms.
