Cairns real estate: Cutter’s Rise at Gordonvale selling fast

Many residential developments in Cairns offer handkerchief-sized lots – but buyers are keen to snap up land at a project offering more. What’s available next.

Rising rates affecting commercial property

SPACIOUS blocks of land at Gordonvale are in hot demand with the release of stage two of the Cutter’s Rise development.

Agent Renee Straguszi said 16 of 41 lots in stage two were already on hold, one week after the release.

“With so much happening in the southern corridor and Woolworths opening its doors, whether you are buying land for your forever home or a great investment property you can’t go wrong,” Ms Straguszi said.

She said all 41 lots in stage one had sold and construction was 75 per cent completed.

Lots in stage two range from 600sq m to 1650sq m.

Launched last July, the Straguszi family project includes plans for a retirement village, medical centre and childcare centre.

Ms Straguszi’s family originally farmed cane on the land, which was acquired about 1935.

“It’s large, flat, affordable land, you can’t find that anywhere in Cairns, and we are building a community – that’s what appeals to people,” she said.

Ms Straguszi said the 10.5km upgrade and duplication of the Bruce Highway between Edmonton and Gordonvale would cut travel time by 10 minutes.

Cutter’s Rise will ultimately comprise about 400 residential lots along with 142 apartments

Lot sizes in stage one range from 672sq m to 1086sq m, with bigger lots selling fast.

The development is on a whopping 42.5ha.

“It’s going to be a vibrant new community offering the perfect balance of lifestyle and space,” Ms Straguszi said.

She said the 10.5km upgrade of the Bruce Highway between Edmonton and Gordonvale would cut travel time to Cairns by 10 minutes.

However, Cairns Regional Council is yet to approve an application for a medical centre at the Draper Rd site.

It entails a doctor’s surgery and pharmacy and allied health services.
