An Ascot house, dubbed ‘the trophy home of the decade’, that had been rented out at $5500 a week, has sold for $12.27m, making it the biggest property transaction of the year in Brisbane so far.
Millionaire builder Glenn Rohrig and his wife Amanda Rohrig sold the four-storey mansion at 10 Morgan St in Ascot after it had been on the market for almost six years, CoreLogic property data showed.
The 912sq m property had been listed through Ray White New Farm, with principal Matt Lancashire confirming the sale on Monday but unable to comment out of respect for the privacy of the buyer and seller.
The home had previously been rented for $5500 a week by Bangkok-born eyelash stylist Joy Crossingham who applied to turn the mansion into a salon in 2019 offering glamorous women eyelash extensions. The Brisbane City Council rejected the application.
The four-level house has an internal lift, climate controlled wine cellar, a parents’ retreat with city, river and mountain views, a fully equipped gym with its own shower and steam room, secure play areas, and a heated swimming pool with an adjoining bar and kitchen.
The most expensive house to sell in Brisbane was the clifftop mansion at 1 Leopard St, Kangaroo Point, which sold in 2017 for $18,488.888 only to sell four years later to Brisbane Broncos chairman Karl Morris for $15m.
