Bec and Lleyton Hewitt list $16m Toorak mansion

The tennis champ and his TV star wife have listed their ultra-luxe family home with swanky cinema and six-car underground garage amid rumours they’re bailing on Melbourne for Sydney.

Lleyton and Bec Hewitt have listed their “first-class” French-inspired Toorak mansion with a $15m-$16m asking price.

It follows rumours the power couple is moving back to Sydney, with Bec – who grew up in the Northern Beaches – spotted inspecting a $15m Manly trophy home when they temporarily shifted north last year for her Dancing With the Stars appearance.

Removalists were photographed last week emptying the five-bedroom, seven-bathroom residence at 34 Heyington Place, which CoreLogic records show the Hewitts snapped up for $12.7m in 2016.

Jellis Craig Stonnington listing agent Phillip French sold the property to the Wimbledon and US Open champ and the former Home And Away actor while it was under construction, and now has the listing.

He said the couple worked with architect Christopher Doyle and builder Peter Johnston of Royale Construction – both of whom are favoured by Toorak’s elite residents – at the time to “put some personal touches” on the three-storey abode.

The Hewitts had loved its position on “a triple-A Toorak street”, that it was “very private” and had “great entertaining spaces”, Mr French said.

The family-orientated layout was another pro for the couple and children Mia, 15, Cruz, 12, and Ava, 10.

The five bedrooms, each with their own ensuite, make up the top level. Among them is an “elegant master” also comprising a parents’ retreat and a dressing room.

The basement level features a 12-seat cinema, a 1800-bottle wine cellar, a gym and a six-car garage.

And the ground floor has formal and informal living and dining spaces, a French provincial-inspired kitchen with Gaggenau and Liebherr appliances and a butler’s pantry, and a study.

“You combine that with the outdoor space, where you have an outdoor kitchen and a family-friendly items like an in-built trampoline, a basketball hoop, astro turf with a Rebound Ace tennis surface and a heated pool,” Mr French said.

“It’s a real entertainer’s home – with summer and the end of lockdown, (the next owners can) get the family and friends over, and even have a beautiful Christmas there as well.”

Mr French declined to comment on the reason for the sale.

But he said the property had already attracted “good inquiry”, with “Toorak families looking for a first-class home” expected to make up most of the buyer pool.

While open for inspections will be allowed to resume in Melbourne from 6pm Friday, prospective purchasers will need to make private appointments to tour the luxury home during its expressions of interest campaign, closing November 23.

The Hewitts sold a double-storey penthouse atop St Kilda Rd’s luxury Yve tower for between $9.5m-$10m in 2017, after it spent six years on the market. The tennis star initially wanted $15m for the pad.

The family has also lived in Sydney suburbs Palm Beach and Kenthurst, South Australia, and even the Bahamas.
