Rebecca Judd has once again taken aim at the continuous crime in her leafy suburb of Brighton.
Ms Judd took to her Instagram to express her concerns after a dog was allegedly stolen in a car on Were St about 7.30am on Wednesday.
“Same shit. Different night,” she said.
“And I’m well aware this isn’t just happening in Bayside.”
The mother-of four told her 768,000 followers to write to their local MPs and complain.
“Yesterday the Queensland Government announced big changes to youth offending laws due to community outrage.
“It’s time the Victorian Government did the same.
“Write to your local MP and let them know if you have strong feelings on this issue.”
It comes as police allege a black Mercedes station wagon was parked outside a Brighton supermarket before two men jumped into the vehicle and fled with two-year-old Moe inside.
The pair, a 20-year-old The Basin man and a 25-year-old Ashwood man, were arrested and charged with two counts of theft of motor vehicle and other offences.
The cavoodle was later reunited with his owner Richard Buxton.
The Bayside local government area, including suburbs Hampton, Black Rock and Beaumaris, was once characterised by its swanky streets, laid-back feel and safe reputation.
Ms Judd was heavily criticised last year for stating crime was rife in the area with Premier Daniel Andrews rubbishing her claims.
The businesswoman said she felt “unsafe” following a spate of crime at the hands of gangs in and around Brighton, where she owns a $7.3m mansion.
“I personally know two women who have experienced home invasions in Brighton in the last few weeks while they were at home,” she said.
Crime Statistics Agency data showed total criminal incidents rose by 7.5 per cent in the Bayside area from 3431 in 2021 to 3688 in 2022.
There were 957 criminal incidents in Brighton last year compared to 828 in 2021.
