Teen charged over Meringandan West home invasion

Police allege the underage boy went to a home armed with a shortened rifle and assaulted the occupant before fleeing in a car. His arrest follows multi-week search.

A teen’s time on the run has come to a swift end after he was arrested allegedly fleeing from a stolen car in the early hours of Monday morning.

The 17-year-old Toowoomba boy is one of two people that police alleged went to a Meringandan West home on October 16 while armed with a sawn-off rifle.

Police will allege they entered the Clifford Street home via a rear laundry door and were confronted by the occupant.

A scuffle ensued, where police allege the home owner was bashed in the head with a chair before the intruders fled in a 4WD.

The boy was arrested in Toowoomba after police allegedly located him in a vehicle that was stolen from a Goombungee home on October 11.

He is charged with 11 offences, including armed robbery in company, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, four counts of entering a dwelling and two counts of supplying a dangerous drug.

He will face the Toowoomba Childrens Court today.

Police are still searching for his co-offender and anyone with information about the offence is urged to come forward.

In an unrelated matter, police have renewed their appeal for information on the location of 19-year-old Denzel Hinch and 18-year-old Eliah Bligh.

Police want to speak to them about a burglary with violence and grievous bodily harm that occurred at Rockville on October 18.

It is alleged two men attended a Trousdell Court home where a man was struck with a tomahawk and sustained serious injuries.

The man was taken to the Toowoomba Hospital in a critical condition, but has since been released.

Police urge members of the public not to approach either man if sighted and to contact police immediately.
