The tragic truth about road deaths in Australia

A woman spent all of Thursday night on the curbside of Osprey Road in Claremont, where her partner was killed in a motorcycle crash.

“My partner was lying right there,” she said.

Police were called to the scene at around 5.20pm on Thursday when the 33-year-old man crashed.

He was later pronounced dead despite the efforts from members of the public and Ambulance Tasmania paramedics.

Police closed off the area to allow for a forensics examination of the scene, but the road has since been reopened to traffic.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation, but police say there is no suggestion that any other vehicle or persons were involved.

One Osprey Road resident who lives just next to the crash sight was shocked by the night’s events.

She said she felt sorry for the partner, who stayed by the curbside all night before leaving at 9am on Friday the next morning.

“It was right out the front of that house. It was awful.” the neighbour said.

Anyone with information in relation to the crash is asked to contact police on 131444 or Crime Stoppers at crimestopperstas.com.au or on 1800 333 000. Information can be provided anonymously.
