A Glenelg gym is reopening after a $3m makeover and will be the first Adelaide location to feature a new membership offering.

Revo Fitness Glenelg has undergone an extensive revamp since mid-March and is now scheduled to unveil its 2000 sqm new look on Tuesday with “state-of-the-art equipment” and two months free membership.

It’s part of a big push by the gym chain across Australia, as it expand its footprint to 52 locations in 2024, adding 16 new gyms.

In March it opened a new 1500 sqm multistorey gym in Blair Athol, recently opened a gym in Woodcroft measuring about 1600 sqm, and is also planning to open its ninth Adelaide gym in Golden Grove as part of a mixed-use residential, health and childcare development beside Pedare Christian College.

Located at Bayside Village Shopping Centre, the Glenelg gym will be the first Revo outlet in Adelaide to offer The Classroom, part of Revo’s Level Three membership.

Exclusively available at the Glenelg location, The Classroom provides access to a variety of 24/7 virtual classes and workouts including strength training, restorative yoga, mat pilates, cardio, mobility sessions, and more.

Revo Fitness founder and managing director Andrew Holder called The Classroom a “revolutionary” offering giving members unprecedented access to virtual fitness experiences.

“With our new Level Three membership, we’re redefining the standard in the fitness industry, providing our Glenelg community with a comprehensive array of workouts and classes to enhance their fitness journey like never before,” Mr Holder said.

“At Revo, we’re always focused on finding new ways to make workouts accessible and more affordable with our main goal to positively influence our members and their fitness journeys.”

It’s a rough time, however, for independent gyms, with Woodville’s New Life Fitness closing abruptly this week and going into liquidation, shocking its customers.

Customers say they were blindsided by the closure, and that a special deal of $199 for a year’s membership was ending the same day it closed.
