A convicted corrupt ex-police officer, sex worker, drug dealer and would-be rapper allegedly stole a car while the subject of an arrest warrant over vehicle-related charges – and is now pregnant, a court has heard.
Adelaide Magistrates Court documents allege Hayley May Greenwood drove or used a motor vehicle, without the consent of its owner, at Croydon Park on March 16 this year.
Greenwood was wanted by SA Police at that time over accusations she took, and attempted to on-sell, a friend’s car and a hire car after removing the licence plates in 2023.
Just five days after the alleged incident, the court issued a second warrant for her arrest on charges of theft, failing to keep a safe distance and failing to give details to police in 2024.
Greenwood’s offending history dates back a decade when, as a serving SA Police officer, she was arrested following an ICAC investigation.
She was subsequently fined for police corruption and jailed for trafficking in methylamphetamine – offences committed while moonlighting as a sex worker.
Infamously, Greenwood publicly refuted those charges by recording a rap video in which she compared herself to Batman and a person “playing cops and robbers”.
In February and March, the court issued warrants for Greenwood over the 2023 and 2024 allegations.
Court records show she was arrested on April 22 and granted bail once more.
On Tuesday, Greenwood told the court she intended to represent herself, was due to give birth in August, and had recently moved to a new address – meaning her bail should be varied.
“I intend to get legal advice (but) I’ve had a lot going on with the pregnancy and all,” she said.
“I need to have discussions with the prosecution, I think a lot of these matters could be resolved and I’ve yet to receive any disclosure or anything yet.”
Magistrate Brian Nitschke said the time was “fast approaching” for Greenwood to sort out her response to the allegations against her.
“It seems to me you have many matters outstanding … the court will want to move them along,” he said.
“I’ve heard what you’ve said, now you need to decide what you wish to do … eventually, we will be setting all of these matters for trial.”
He varied Greenwood’s bail address and remanded her to face a pre-trial conference in June.
