A severe thunderstorm warning for heavy rainfall and damaging winds has been issued for western and central Queensland, with Brisbane temperatures set to reach 35C later in the week.
The next two weeks will be ‘wetter than usual’ in South East Queensland, with possibly severe thunderstorms forecast for as early as Tuesday – but that doesn’t mean the oppressive humidity is going away.
Hail and heavy rainfall has been recorded in some parts of the South East after severe storms swept through the area.
It’s another frosty one out there for southeast Queenslanders, with some parts of the region seeing their apparent temperature drop below freezing.

One Queensland town has recorded the state’s lowest temperature so far this year, but the weather bureau says the cold snap will be short-lived.

It’s not quite winter but you’d be forgiven for thinking otherwise after temperatures dropped to below 0C in parts of the state’s south overnight.
The forecast is for a chilly weekend for Queensland as an ‘icy blast’ pounds the state, but many won’t have to wait until tomorrow to drag out the winter woollies, with temperatures dropping dramatically in some parts of the state this morning.
Forecasters warn temperatures are set to drop tonight ahead of a cold front that due to send the mercury plunging towards subzero temperatures, after predicted storms didn’t eventuate.
