AN ART exhibition demonstrating different points of view will open in the Rose City this weekend.
Aptly named Three Views, Clifton painter Ann Fogerty has joined with Warwick artists Corina Graham and Daniel Rofe to present the show at the Warwick Hotel on Palmerin St.
The walls of the hotel restaurant and bar will be adorned with the works of the three local creatives, all with distinct styles.
It is the first show for Ms Graham and Mr Rofe, and follows on from a successful exhibition for Ms Fogerty in November.
“I’ve been painting pretty much all my life, but I’ve just recently started a mentorship with Sue Keong (with Warwick Artists Group),” Mr Rofe said.
“I’m also a member of Access Arts in Brisbane, and Arts of the Margin which helps people with a disability who want to get into the arts and that’s been great for me.
“At the moment I’m working on realism in landscapes and portraits of animals and people, but I do prefer to work in black and white in charcoal, pastels and paints as well.”
Ms Graham runs the Demented Artists Group in Warwick after kicking off her own artistic career three and a half years ago.
“Before that I never painted or drew anything but I had become involved with a local mental health art group and found that art as therapy was huge for me,” Corina said.
“I now do art everyday – if I’m not painting or drawing I’m promoting art or reading about it, and I also advocate for Beyond Blue.
“I particularly like to do portraits of animals and people but I don’t have a preferred medium, I want to learn everything I can.
“The Demented Artists Group has been good personally, but there are many more artists out there in Warwick and the region who just don’t know about each other.”
Ms Fogerty, who paints larger abstract pieces, said it was great to have a diverse grouping of artists represented at the exhibition.
“It’s great to be able to share this with Corina and Daniel,” Ms Fogerty said.
“The hotel is a beautiful old building and it’s a milestone for them so I’m delighted to be apart of the exhibition.
“I’m part of the Warwick Artists Group and they have been a wonderful support for artists in the area.”
The event is supported by Warwick Artists Group, and president Sue Keong said it was key to encourage budding artists to debut their work.
“We really want them to take that leap of faith to display their work,” Mrs Keong said.
“They’re all sort of starting out on their artistic journeys and we want to help them in anyway we can.”
Three Views opens at the Warwick Hotel, on Palmerin St next to the IGA, this Saturday from 2pm.
The exhibition is free to attend, and Ms Graham has pledged 10% of the proceeds from any purchases of her artwork to the Demented Artists Group.
