A teen arrested at a country rugby league match is now the subject of Queensland Rugby League disciplinary action.
Queensland Police Service were called to Rowden Park, home of St George Saints, on Saturday July 19 following reports of an alleged verbal altercation at the rugby league ground.
“Officers were called to a sportsground on Victoria Street around 12.20pm Saturday, following an alleged verbal altercation between two people,” a Queensland Police Service spokesperson said.
“A 16-year-old boy was taken into custody at the scene and charged with one count of public nuisance.”
A QRL spokesperson said they were aware of the incident and are now investigating the matter.
It is understood by this masthead that the 16-year-old boy was a player involved in a junior match at Rowden Park.
Queensland Rugby League confirmed the match was called off while the matter was dealt with by QPS officers.
“QRL Central are aware of the incident and has commenced the disciplinary process,” a QRL spokesperson said.
The boy is due to appear in St George Children’s Court on July 28.
