The wave of property-related crime spreading across Warwick has continued this week, with another several brazen thefts reported in the past few days.
Police say offenders struck at a Pratten St home in broad daylight on Tuesday, taking a kayak from an open carport while the house was unattended between 9am and 5am.
Warwick police acting officer-in-charge Sergeant Cameron Slater said detectives were still investigating CCTV footage, with no suspects at this stage.
It came only hours before thieves tried to break into Rose City Tyres on Kenilworth St at about 4am Wednesday, forcing their way in through a side door to the workshop.
“Once they’ve done that, the alarm has been activated, so they’ve scampered after that,” Sergeant Slater said.
“Nothing has been stolen, so that one’s under investigation as well.”
No charges have been laid in relation to either incident.
The Warwick businesses have become close to the tenth to be targeted by thieves in the past fortnight, echoing the massive wave of break-ins, car thefts, and other property-related crime that swept the Rose City area at the beginning of the year.
