Stalking Our Streets

According to data from Queensland Police, the Southern Downs region has been victim to more than 2000 criminal offences since June 2022.

The data shows the most offences committed in the region were related to traffic offending, with (491) traffic offences occurring within the twelve-month period, followed by (337) drug offences.

Further analysis by Warwick Daily News was conducted to break down the offences and has identified some of the Southern Downs’ most dangerous streets for traffic, theft and drug offending.

The Rose City has been the target for many drug offenders over the past twelve months, recording 189 of these offences with the recent sentencing of a Warwick mother for supply of dangerous drugs in May of this year.

Earlier this year the town faced a spree of armed robberies and related crimes in the space of just one weekend.

The crime spree resulted in the assault of two minors at Leslie Park, a service station robbery and an alleged assault which saw a bloody and beaten man appear on the steps of Warwick Police Station.

In August of 2022 another weekend crimewave saw the break and enter of the shed of a Wood St home, as well as an evasion offence and numerous drink and drug drive offending, resulting in a high-range reading of 0.081.
