Property prices across Warwick and the Southern Downs are booming into the millions as people flock to regional Queensland away from the cities.
Multiple properties across the region are fetching up to $2m with buyers paying eye watering prices for the relaxed comfort of the Southern Downs.
Stuart Bond Real Estate and Auctioneer selling principal, Stuart Bond, said the influx of wealthy property buyers into the region was ultimately a good thing.
“It’s great for the economy as they’re bringing their money with them,” he said.
“You see a two million dollar house, and realise, they’ve got to buy new furniture, a new car for the garage, new machinery for the maintenance, as well as bikes or quads to get around the property.
“No one buys a two million dollar house to leave it empty, they’ll probably spend half a million dollars to fill it up,” he said.
“For a lot of the buyers if they buy a country home it’s like them buying a yacht, it’s just another thing to have.”
LJ Hooker Warwick agent, Leanne Cameron, said the new arrivals to the Southern Downs are
“There’s no one area where the predominant number of buyers are coming from and are across the range of age, demographics, families and jobs,” Ms Cameron said.
“It’s a wonderful region, it’s so diverse, but it’s the location and proximity to major centres and beaches, we are in one of the hottest little regions on the east coast region.”
