A BRISBANE coffee shop has landed a starring role in the third instalment of Hollywood blockbuster Thor.

Atomic Coffee and Catering will close its doors to the public this week so Aussie heartthrob Chris Hemsworth and his co-stars can film inside the city cafe.

George Kalatzis and his sister Julie Anthanassiadis have owned Atomic Coffee and Catering for eight years.

Mr Kalatzis said not only the cafe — located on the corner of Margaret and Albert streets — but also its name, would feature in Thor: Ragnarok.

“When we got the cafe all we ever wanted to do was make nice coffee for nice people,” he said.

“Now we’re making nice coffee for the stars of a Hollywood movie.”

The coffee served at Atomic Coffee and Catering is made in North Queensland.

Mr Kalatzis said it was great to be able to showcase Australian products and the city to the world.

“I think it’s great for Brisbane to do more of this,” he said.

“Then people will say ‘oh look they shot that in Brisbane’.”

As for Ms Anthanassiadis, she just wants to serve Hemsworth a coffee.

Mr Kalatzis said he hoped to get a few photos with the cast and crew, while there may also be a chance for a cameo in the movie.

“Now this has come into town, I’m going to have fun with it,” he said.

“Yes you’ve got movie stars, but they’re human as well.

“They will want to do a good job.”

Parts of the CBD were shut off to cars from Sunday so filming for the latest Marvel Comics adaptation could take place.

Mary St, Albert St, Margaret St, Esk Lane and the Riverside Expressway will all be affected.
