The successful owners of Caloundra cafe White Picket Fence have returned to their roots with the grand opening of a brand new business in the heart of their hometown.

Husband and wife duo Adam and Caitlin Gaudion first opened Caloundra cafe White Picket Fence in 2018 which became a roaring success.

But the cafe was known for more than just its food and service, drawing hundreds of customers for its aesthetically pleasing setting.

Mr Gaudion, who was a former chef at Kings Beach restaurant Beau’s prior to its closure, said the couple met in Brisbane and did some travelling together before settling down in Caloundra to start their family.

They then moved to the Mooloolah Valley in 2020, and set their sights on bringing the same success to a new sister cafe.

Jones Street Kitchen, located at 1 Jones St, Mooloolah Valley, was described on the business’ Facebook page as “your friendly neighbourhood corner caffeine dealer”.

On Monday, there was a “queue out the door” for their grand opening, Mr Gaudion said.

The new business comes just over a month after the couple welcomed their second child, making Mr and Mrs Gaudion parents’ to two children under the age of two.

Mr Gaudion said the choice to expand their cafe empire into the Mooloolah Valley came after they saw a “need” for more cafes in the area, which has a growing population.

But the decision to take over the former Cafe Mooloolah location was a “spur of the moment” opportunity after the couple put in an offer for the building and were given the good news less than a week later.

A week-long renovation process then began, he said, before the cafe opened its doors for the first time on Monday.

Jones Street Kitchen was described as a “sister cafe” to White Picket Fence, though Mr Gaudion described the Mooloolah Valley cafe as “more rustic”.

The couple recruited one chef from White Picket Fence to join them at the new location.

Jones Street Kitchen is open daily from 6am until 2.30pm.
