Rain blowing in from the ocean has dampened the start to Sunday but the weather bureau says it won’t be an all day affair.

Meteorologist Kimba Wong said easterly winds were bringing rain across the Sunshine Coast on Sunday morning but the clouds weren’t going too far inland.

Coops Corner near Tin Can Bay recorded 31mm in the 24 hours until 9am today, with 28mm recorded at Parrearra Weir and 24mm recorded at Mt Elliott.

“It has very much been the overnight period and through the early hours of this morning,” Ms Wong said.

“It should be a bit of an easing trend today.”

She expected weather to clear by Sunday afternoon and drier days on Monday and Tuesday before a possible return of showers from Wednesday until the end of the week.

She said weather moving across from the southwest of the country would reach Queensland by Friday and possibly bring storms but it was difficult to determine their severity.

Maroochydore dropped to a 15.3C minimum temperature on Sunday morning and was expected to rise to a 23C maximum through the day.

Nambour and Noosa are also expected to experience the same maximum temperature while it will be a cooler 20C maximum in Maleny.

Temperatures for Monday and Tuesday are expected to range between the average 12C minimum for this time of year and 24C maximum.
