Owners of a new Sunshine Coast restaurant have given residents a ‘fresh breath of life’ into what used to be one of the most popular establishments in town.

The owners behind a new and revamped Sunshine Coast restaurant say their trying to add a “fresh breath of life” into what used to be one of the most popular eateries in town.

Owners Jonathan and Claire Powell opened the doors to their restaurant The Eumundi Bungalow on December 17.

After relocating back home to the Sunshine Coast from Sydney the husband and wife duo said they couldn’t pass up on the opportunity.

“It’s always been a dream of ours so when the opportunity arose we knew the old venue needed a fresh breath of life and we felt as if it was something we could reinvigorate,” Mr Powell said.

“The old restaurant used to be very popular but they ended up leaving a bad name for themselves around town so we wanted to give it a much more vibrant and refreshing feel.

“We saw the potential of the venue and had a vision in which we’ve made come to life.”

After working in the Sydney hospitality industry for the past 20 years, this was Mr Powell’s first time owning a restaurant.

“It hasn’t been the easiest time to open a restaurant but we’re still doing really well,” he said.

“We use as much local produce as possible and with our food and we’re not trying to change the world, we’re just trying to do classic dishes really, really well.”

The pair employ a small team of five staff members with fully trained Italian chefs.

Mr Powell said the name is a spin off from the establishment before them, Bohemian Bungalow.

“We really like the name of Bungalow so we wanted to keep that,” he said.

“We’re very excited to welcome people through our doors and let them experience what we have to offer.”

The La Casa styled establishment is open for dine in and takeaway Wednesday to Sunday from 12.30pm to 2.30pm and 5pm to 8pm.
