A Sunshine Coast beer enthusiast with a fitting surname has secured arguably Australia’s best job and will get paid by a Noose brewery to knock back cold ones.

Peregian Beach resident Jack Brew has landed the coveted role of chief beer tasting officer at the Heads of Noosa Brewing Co at Noosaville.

The main responsibility of Mr Brew’s role is taste-testing the Noosa brewery’s limited-release drops for this year.

He is required to work four days a year at the brewery and will be paid a whopping $250 an hour for his time, with other perks including a free meal and two cartons of every limited release brew for the year.

Noting his love of beer and surname, Mr Brew described the role as the perfect opportunity.

“It’s an absolute perfect match this one,” he said.

A frequent visitor to the venue, Mr Brew has enjoyed plenty of good times at the establishment.

“We had my mother’s 60th there, my brother-in-law’s 40th there, I spend a lot of time down there and have had plenty of good times there,” he said.

Mr Brew said he was made for the role and had what it took to get the job done.

“I’m also looking forward to exploring the brewery side there and learning the process of how they do it all,” he said.

Heads of Noosa brewer Lance Masterton said Mr Brew was a deserving winner.

“There was strong interest in the role, we were blown away to see how many people were interested in taking up the role, it’s not a bad job to have,” he said.

“(Mr Brew) knows what he likes, definitely loves lagers, he is a great set of eyes there for us, and I can’t wait to see how he performs in the role.”

Mr Masterton said that Mr Brew had the necessary experience and was well-prepared for the task at hand.

“We’ve seen him here plenty of times, we know he loves a beer,” he said.

“At the same time it is a big responsibility, he needs to keep his palate in fine tune, it is hard to stay off the beers when you get excited, so he probably needs to keep himself in check, not get ahead of himself, and save up for the day.”
