Sunshine Coast fishing report: Long weekend hot spots revealed
A long weekend looms and there are fish on the bite if you know where to find them. Scott Hillier gives his best tips to bring home dinner.

Moderate winds forecast and the chance of a few storms, so rivers and creeks will be the best option, but keep an eye on the latest forecast especially with the storms hanging around.
Should be a nice run in the tide with the building new moon.
The open beaches around the bottom of the tide are stacked at the moment with whiting, although plenty are undersized there are a few legal fish in among them also a few dart mixed in with them.
Live beach worms are best for bait.
Places with really good gutters include Mudjimba, Marcoola, Yaroomba, Sunshine and Stumers Creek.
Good whiting in most rivers and creeks taking live yabbies, worms and strips of squid up on the flats during the run out tide seeing good results.
Flathead also enjoying the warm water and tidal movement,
The mid-Noosa and Maroochy producing a few nice fish by trolling small hard body lures, ensuring the lure is bouncing off the bottom.
Mangrove Jack in the Maroochy have been fantastic over the past week with plenty being boated.
Live baits along with strip baits fished into the deeper holes with a bit of structure and around the jetty and bridge pylons proving the winning formula.
