Sunshine Coast
Don't miss out on the headlines from Sunshine Coast. Followed categories will be added to My News.
Conditions
Tides starting to slow up a little now on the back of the new moon. It looks like Saturday the offshore fishers will get a chance to head out before a bit of a blow on Sunday.
Species
Offshore anglers have been getting stuck into the Mac and Longtail tuna at the moment with good schools still hanging around and chasing down the bait balls casting metal slugs, soft plastics or trolling hard body lures around the busting fish and bait schools should see a few fish.
Amberjack have been biting well out on the wrecks and wire weed live yakkas fished on a paternoster rig doing most of the damage along with knife jigs worked nice and fast through the water column.
Spanish mackerel will be worth chasing with slowly trolled live yakkas or whole rigged gar catching a few fish.
Mangrove Jack have been going well in the rivers and creeks with the jetties, marinas and structure in the deeper holes all holding fish. Live baiting, strips of mullet or soft plastics all working with plenty of hard luck stories being reported.
Some nice flathead being caught during the run out tide on small soft plastics being worked slowly along the drop offs
The open beaches are producing nice whiting at the moment with live worms best for bait, a few small dart as well.
Spots
Coolum, Yaroomba, 8 and 12 Mile Caloundra, Wide Caloundra.
Noosa and Maroochy rivers with Kawana Rock wall, Mudjimba and Marcoola beaches.
